Forward
Energy Group Inc. is an independent consulting firm that provides analysis
and advisory services in the upstream petroleum sector. Our products and
services help decision makers evaluate opportunities and strategies in a
dynamic, uncertain and competitive environment.
Clients often integrate our
insights and observations into their
project evaluation and corporate planning processes. Forward’s creative application of technical and business
analysis to basin-scale data is used by leading energy companies as part
of their strategic decision making processes. Forward offers
comprehensive research on gas supply trends, sources of supply and
operator strategies in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Forward is a
recognized expert in the resource assessment and production
characterization of unconventional gas. Clients value our evaluations of
play success, reserve growth, production trends and operator portfolios,
both in Canada and in international basins. Forward Energy holds a Permit
to Practice from APEGGA. A brief
description of some of ouraccomplishments follows:
Forward’s flagship
multi-client study: Natural Gas Supply Trends in Western Canada 1990 –
2007, provides fresh insights into the production trends, sources of
supply, impacts of technology and individual operator strategies
responsible for adding over 54 Bcf/d of new deliverability in the
Western Canada Sedimentary Basin.
Forward created the
Western Canada Tight Gas Resource Characterization project, a
multi-year, multi-stakeholder study to define tight gas for Canada,
characterize significant producing plays, assess recoverable resource,
forecast supply and identify barriers to development. Many clients have
benefited from detailed exclusive analyses of Deep Basin tight gas plays
in focus areas of interest.
For a multinational IOC
evaluating entry into coalbed methane plays, Forward provided a
comprehensive CBM play comparison and ranking for coal measures across
Canada. The study included detailed play descriptions, summaries of
production pilot activity and production characterization of commercial
plays.
At the request of
numerous clients assessing their Western Canada gas strategies, Forward
has benchmarked the performance of operators that have successfully
built gas producing core areas in the high-risk high-impact plays of the
Foothills region since 1990. The studies compared entry strategies
employed by operators, common success factors and modeled their physical
and economic performance.
Forward developed an
entry strategy for the international arm of a Calgary-based client into
the emerging gas sector in Mexico. We assessed the resource
opportunities in the Burgos Basin by detailed characterization and
extrapolation of trends from south Texas. We identified critical
commercial issues and provided input to the client and PEMEX on the
impacts of various contracting strategies.
