Dave
Flint is the president and founder of Forward Energy Group Inc,
leading Forward’s specialized petroleum consulting services since 1999.
Dave is a professional geologist and MBA with over
32 years of experience in
management and technical positions in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Dave
developed the
Natural Gas Supply Trends in
Western Canada in
response to the need within many companies for sound data and
comprehensive insights on the strategic choices available within the
gas-producing provinces of western Canada. Dave’s understanding of
management issues coupled with his analytical strengths make him an ideal
partner in evaluating and selecting strategic alternatives in the Western
Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Combining his experience in resource
assessment and the tight gas plays in both Canada and the United States,
Dave assembled the Western Canada Tight Gas Resource Characterization
project to engage key government and industry stakeholders in analysis and
discussion of this critical unconventional gas resource. He is also the
architect in Forward Energy’s play entry analysis service line, creatively
fulfilling clients’ needs for an in-depth understanding of how other
companies have established success at entering new play areas. Dave is
often called upon as a speaker for various industry groups.
Prior to founding
Forward Energy, Dave was a member of the senior management team of Wascana
Energy Inc with responsibilities for natural gas investment strategy in
Western Canada. As General Manager of the Shallow Gas Business unit, Dave
led a large staff dedicated to finding, developing and producing gas in
Alberta and Saskatchewan and personally faced many of the leadership
challenges that industry participants wrestle with today. Dave also
provided leadership in exploration and strategic business development
efforts during his engagement with Wascana.
The foundation of
Dave’s petroleum career was thirteen years with Amoco Canada in Calgary
and Amoco Production in Denver, beginning as an exploration geologist and
progressing through positions of increasing responsibility, to team
leadership and supervisory roles.
Dave holds advanced
degrees in geology and management, is a Professional Geologist in Alberta
(member of APEGGA), and a member of both the Canadian Society of Petroleum
Geologists (CSPG) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
